用料

tomato beef stew的做法  

  1. ----- blanch beef -----
    add beef chunks into cold water, add some scallion whites, slices of ginger and a splash of shao-xing, turn on heat till boil


    after boiling, add in 1 anise. (remove it when you can smell its fragrance)

    add a splash of cold water to reduce heat and bring to boil, remove the blood foam on top * 5 times

  2. ---- stew the beef -----
    transfer hot water washed beef to the instant pot

    add half onion, 2 carrots, 2 stalks of celery, 2 bay leaves, 1 dried pepper

    high pressure for 35 – 40 mins

  3. ---- in saucepan -----
    add butter in the pan, saute onion, celery, 1 bay leaf

  4. add tomato paste, ketchup and diced tomatoes

  5. add in beef broth from the instant pot

  6. add in veggies from the instant pot

    optional: take all veggies in the instant pot and blend into smoothie then add in the saucepan

  7. add beef chunks

  8. add dark soy sauce, salt, sugar

    optional: cornstarch

  9. sprinkle diced avocado on top and serve
